> Synopsis

Aurora Forte is a hand held tester designed for multilayer tests. It has the SDH/SONET interfaces up to 622 Mbit/s: E1, E3, DS1, DS3, STM-1/OC-3, STM-4/OC-12 and ATM25.

Its outstanding functions include:

Physical layer test for in all available interfaces,

BER and performance test,

ATM traffic scanning (1024 VCC),

ATM traffic generation (256 VCC),

QoS (O.191) test procedures,

Traffic policing,

OAM (I.610) monitoring, injection, and decode,

IP Ping,

SVC, Q.2931, UNI3.0, UNI3.1, UNI4.0 and ILMI analysis.

Additionally Aurora Forte works with Trend Observer to decode over 500 LAN/WAN protocols. A new Remote Viewer enables the experts located at anywhere to support the field engineers.

DSLAM installation

Connect tester to DSLAM network interface, e.g. STM-1,
Prove physical layer framing synchronization,
Prove VCC routing with OAM loop back ping to DSL tester,
Prove VCC bandwidth with ATM BERT to DSL tester,
Prove IP setup with IP ping to DSLAM management IP address,
Validate IP-bridged or routed encapsulation.

DSLAM/Network monitoring

Monitor physical frame events,
ATM traffic scan for active VCCs,
Monitor/decode OAM alarms and loop back cells,
Test VCC data rate and traffic shaping,
IP decode with connection to Trend Observer.

CPE/Modem installation

Connect tester to the broadband side,
Prove VCC routing with OAM loopback ping to DSL tester,
Prove VCC bandwidth with ATM BERT to DSL tester,
Check customer IP address with IP Ping on selected VCC,
ATM25 monitor for video applications.
