"A  revolution in DSL testing"
We are proud to present the most superior test solution on the market, providing all of the functionality necessary for the installation, maintenance and troubleshooting of ADSL and G.SHDSL access networks.
ADSL ¦ G.SHDSL ¦ TDR ¦ DMM¦ ATM ¦ IP Ping ¦ PPP ¦ ATM25¦ 10BaseT ¦ Trace route

Testing points for Aurora Presto: the whole DSL network, from the CPE to the ISP using all layers, from the physical layer up to the application layer, can be verified for service roll-out and maintenance operations.

@  Synopsis
Light and portable, Aurora Presto is extremely robust and has been designed to operate in both field and lab environments:
  • Aurora Presto is a compact hand-held tester designed to assist the turnup of ADSL and G.SHDSL to residential and business customers.
  • It is able to verify all the layers used in DSL applications.
  • It confirms DSL service, determines its performance, and analyses its quality.
  • Offers "go, no-go" and "Expert" operation modes.
  • Fully flexible for maintenance and troubleshooting.

@  Functionality
xDSL is a multilayer technology that relies on each individual layer operating both correctly and efficiently. Aurora Presto provides a complete test solution for each layer.
  1. Physical Layer test, it is important that load coils and copper faults like split pairs, bridged taps, open circuits, grounds etc. that may be acceptable for the POTS service but not for the xDSL service, are identified and corrected. Aurora Presto provides both TDR and DMM functionality to enable effective fault finding at the physical layer.
  2. ADSL, G.SHDSL installation, by means of full modem or router replacement, Aurora Presto simplifies testing by synchronizing with the DSLAM and providing comprehensive line statistics to identify faults and measure the DSL performance.
  3. ATM verification, to establish the performance the BER measurement should be made at the ATM layer to get a complete picture of the DSL installation. Aurora Presto also verifies the ATM circuits with the F5 OAM loop-back cells step-by-step until the RAS , the first IP server. ATMF 25.6 BER and statistics are available when using the ATMF 25.6 interface.
  4. IP and PPP test, experience has demonstrated that in order to verify the application layers an IP ping test does not fully test the connections. Aurora Presto also provides trace route facilities with LAN/WAN statistics together with IP testing.
  5. PPP is supported over Ethernet and ATM,  including authentication capabilities.
@ Features and Benefits
Aurora Presto is a  powerful multilayer solution that combines a "one button" auto test mode for first line technicians and an advanced manual analysis for senior engineers and support technicians.

  • multilayer tester: Aurora Presto does the work of four separate testers: physical layer tester, xDSL tester, ATM tester and IP/PPP tester
  • Seamless "soft-switching" between co-resident functions means no module swapping
  • flexible design: protects future investments
  • standard downloads: enables results and analysis to be transferred to a PC for use with editors & spreadsheets
  • TDR/DMM functions with load coil detection
  • "golden modem" and 'golden router': enables full in-line DSL modem or router replacement providing comprehensive DSL statistics, alarms and trace events, ATM statistics, F5 OAM supported and advanced IP test capabilities
  • ATU-C emulation: enables testing from the local exchange and reduces field deployments
  • DSL tracer operation: gives timestamped information on G.994.1 hs, EOC and alarm events
  • Bi-directional ATM BERT: enables full ATM layer quality analysis
  • F5 OAM ping: verifies end-to-end ATM connectivity
  • PPP support: over Ethernet or ATM allows authentication with the BRAS

@  Applications
Depending on the type of test you perform, you can test one or more of the following:
  • ADSL equipment and lines
  • G.SHDSL equipment and lines
  • the route through the network via ATM switches and DSL equipment
  • the integrity of a link and the Quality of Service
  • the availability and operation of DSL services
  • application layer throughout via the IP / PPP protocol layers
  • @  Market segmentation
Potential customers for Aurora Presto are all those organizations whose business is based on xDSL roll-out and maintenance. Specific applications:
    • Loop qualification, by means of TDR and DMM to identify copper faults.
    • Service installation, experience has demonstrated that diagnosis based on PC and modem solutions is definitely unsuitable for installation because it only verifies the installation if a full IP path has been established between the PC and the ISP. It is important to verify the DSLAM, ATM switches, PPP servers as well as IP routers.
    • Maintenance, once the service is deployed, operators need cost-effective tools to verify the service and the SLA.
