Trend opens new US office
|
|
| HUNTSVILLE (AL) July 22, 2002. Trend Communications,
Inc., has announced the expansion of its U.S. operations with the opening
of a national sales and support center, based in the high tech research
center of Huntsville, Alabama.
All of Trend’s sales and pre- and post-sales support in the U.S., Canada,
and Latin America will be managed from this location. These newly expanded
operations, supported by a domestic and international network of account
managers, representatives,
 |
and distributors, will provide technical assistance, product
service, and sales for all Trend test equipment.
Greg Curtis, Trend’s Vice President of Sales/Marketing for the Americas,
states, "Trend remains committed to full service and support for all
of the markets in the U.S., Canada, and Latin America. As others

Victoria Combo the answer
for NGN
|
 |
| BARCELONA Nov 23. Trend's new modular test platform
stacks up against the competition with 10Gbit/s STM-64 SDH/SONET Application.
Trend Communications has launched Victoria Combo, a new test and measurement
platform initially for SDH, SONET, PDH and T-Carrier networks up to 10
Gbit/s. Based on a truly modular, stackable design, this effective multi-role
tester is ideal for fault location, field use, and as a remote probe.
With separate top and bottom modules for the user interface and power
provision, the Victoria Combo can perform both simultaneous and independent
measurements using user-selectable technology modules locked between the
interface and power sections.
 |
This
tester is stackable, and multiple modules can be included or not as the
situation demands. The platform has been prepared to support different
technologies, which not only makes the test set easy to adapt to applications
for New Generation Networks, but also protects the customer's investment.

Tango ADSL new tools for
testing
|
 |
| HIGH WYCOMBE Nov 23. Now includes new PASS/FAIL theresholds,
DNS client management, and DHCP client for dynamic IP resolution.
Aurora Tango provides an automated test route, initiated by a single
button press, which gives a simple PASS/FAIL result based on a test script
sequence. This latest release has extended the capability to threshold
testing of line quality parameters which can affect service quality.
To overcome timeout problems associated with testing the synchronisation
with the DSLAM during busy periods, a manual timeout threshold can be defined.
This can prevent an abortive test simply because of a non recurring situation.
In addition the IP test has been enhanced.
 |
In circumstances where an IP address may not be known, the addition of
DNS Client means a URL may be entered instead and a Trace Route function
will be able to be invoked identifying servers and switches transmitting
the packet through the network to final destination.

Aurora Presto has a new
TDR
 |
 |
| HIGH WYCOMBE Dec 9th. An important set of new features
have been announced for the European sales leader of xDSL testing.
New TDR
You can now change the Pulse type, shape and the velocity factor. The
TDR Graph Display screen and navigation key sequences have been improved.
DHCP Client Mode
The DHCP Client Mode enables you to obtain an IP address when connected
to an ISP or a Remote Server, and to perform tests on the LAN side
over the 10BT interface in Bridged Mode.
 |
Auto Detect
When a fault has been located, Aurora Presto adjusts the scale and
zoom to display the first fault. If more than one fault is found, Aurora
Presto displays the most severe fault followed by the subsequent faults
in descending order of severity.
G.SHDSL Leased Line Emulation
This enables you to train with peer modems, when in Point-to-Point
mode. It also displays comprehensive statistics.

| BARCELONA Sep 10th. Trend Communications has responded
rapidly to user requests to include ATM/IP test capability on Victoria
STM-16/OC-48.
This type of functionality is key for technical teams involved in the
implementation, turn-up and maintenance of Next Generation Networks
and SDH/Sonet nodes with multitechnology requiriments.
It performs a series of ATM/IP functional tests, including generation
and analysis of AAL1, AAL2 and AAL5.

|
Then, using the same test unit, a technician can perform complete SDH/Sonet
testing up to 2.5Gbits and ATM/IP up to 155Mbit/s.

Aurora Forte Success Story
 |
 |
| HIGH WYCOMBE Sep 16. Aurora Forte has been selected
by another 3G operator for the installation and commissioning of their
UMTS access network connections in the UK.
Aurora Forte is configured with E1 and STM1 interface modules and will
be used for ensuring that wireline links leased from other operators are
operating error free and that the ATM connections are configured correctly.
ATM test equipment was evaluated because existing testers for GSM networks
cannot be upgraded to test the ATM electrical and optical connections that
are vital for 3G. Aurora Forte was preferred from a selection of
competitive products not only because the graphical user interface has
made training of field engineers a quick task, but also because of the
variety of measurements possible. |
Simple
procedures such as Physical E1 BERT, ATM Traffic Scanning, ATM BERT or
IP Ping over ATM will be used on a daily basis. Other more sophisticated
procedures for fault investigation are available such as QoS test, OAM
protocol and ATM traffic generation and receive on multiple VCCs.
It was also important for this operator to be confident in the stability
of Trend as a vendor and that Aurora Forte has a roadmap of new features
for release in the future.

LIGHT
SPEED
LONDON Dec 5th. The launchpad for Victoria Combo generated interest
from visitors, Press and the competitors alike. Good feedback was received
which has confirmed Trend's decision to "go modular" and also re-inforced
our strategic roadmap for this product. We also took the opportunity to
promote other key products from the portfolio as this show was linked to
a broadband exhibition in the same hall.
EXPONET
COLOGNE (Ger) Nov 19th. Exponet has fulfilled its role as a result orientated
professional exhibition which was untouched by the weak economic
situation. The number of visitors increased from 50k up to 65k. Trend was
present this year, again with remarkable success, increasing the number
of leads by 24% compared with last year.
OSP
EXPO
CHARLOTTE (NC) US Nov 6th. Trend participated in the OSP exhibition
where Victoria Combo was shown for the first time in the world. The unit
on show was for OC-192/ STM-64 transmission testing of next generation
Sonet/SDH networks.
NETWORKS
TELECOM
BIRMINGHAM (UK) June 25. In common with all the major shows this year
attendance at N-t 2002 was well down on forcasts. However Trend's 90sqm
stand had the full portfolio on view including a demonstrable FlexaNet
Video system. As expected, distributed products generated interest
within the network management attendees whilst ALT2000, Presto and Tango
held the attention of those involved with xDSL delivery.
