rend's new products
at CeBIT 2003 reveal the strategy which the Test Division has now adopted.
The sophisticated mix of access, transmission and switching networks
calls for a new generation of test solutions, easy to use yet operationally
complete.
Trend Commnunications is extending its traditional hand-held, technology-specific
products, into the arena of multi-purpose test platforms and test systems
which can operate remotely with complete host independence.

BARCELONA Feb 27. Trend's new modular test platform
stacks up against the competition.
Trend Communications has launched Victoria Combo, a new test and measurement
platform for DWDM, GbEthernet, SDH, SONET, PDH and T-Carrier networks up
to 10 Gbit/s. Based on a truly modular, stackable design, this effective
multi-role tester is ideal for fault location, field use, and as a remote
probe.
Victoria Combo can be controlled using the touch-screen, on-site from
a PC using wireless connection or remotely over the Internet using TCP/IP.
Available transmission modules are STM-64/OC-192 and STM-16/OC-48 which
include all ETSI and ANSI interfaces. |
Its
functions include: TCM, APS, G.783 sequences, M/N Alarms, error performance
including G.828, G.829, BER tests on DCC and OH, optical power measurement,
frequency deviation, advanced trace, in-band G.707 FEC statistics, and
Nx64 and Nx56kbit/s tests.

HIGH WYCOMBE March 3rd. Trend Communications announces
the availability of a new interface module for the Aurora Forte
The
new optical module handles transmission rates of STM-4/OC-12 (622 Mbit/s).
Its introduction demonstrates Trend's commitment to providing the network
test functionality required by operators involved in the roll-out and maintenance
of ATM based networks including DSL and 3G/UMTS infrastructures.
The new STM-4/OC-12 module is a field-installable plug-in unit allowing
the on-site engineer to change interfaces as the transmission requirements
dictate.
The new accompanying software extends all the existing functionality
of the Aurora Forte from 155Mbit/s to the higher data rate of 622Mbit/s.
Existing users of the Aurora Forte can upgrade to the new module and software
with no further modification to their base hardware platform and so continue
to maximise their original investment. |
It allows physical, ATM and IP layer testing with
functions such as Physical Alarm monitoring and logging, Bit Error Rate
Testing, ATM traffic scanning of up to 1024 virtual circuits. It
includes ATM QoS test procedures, traffic policing, OAM protocol, IP Ping
over ATM and IP protocol realtime decodes. ATM traffic can be generated
at up to STM-4/OC-12 data rates on single or multiple VCCs.
The recently introduced PC remote viewer software allows the Aurora
Forte to be actively deployed at remote locations to provide expert assistance
to field staff, or for use in long term monitoring as a remote probe.

HIGH WYCOMBE March 3rd. Trend announces Bluetooth connectivity
and prepares a new SHDSL module for the Aurora Tango platform.
The Aurora Tango is a modular multi-technology platform for simple,
fast and effective testing. It can operate in both "one-button mode" using
pre-defined parameters, and "expert mode" programming Tango using an optional
PDA which provides the graphical user interface. It also supports Bluetooth
operation for on-site wireless access from a laptop or PDA. Swappable modules
offer the flexibility to test various technologies including ADSL, SHDSL
and ISDN.
The Aurora Tango SHDSL module enables verification of the copper loop
by means of the key digital and analogue parameters that govern SHDSL technology
(e.g.FEXT, NEXT, attenuation, SNR, SNM, data rate, error counters, event
tracer). |
Easy operation and interpretation of the results allow confirmation and
identification of the link’s performance and to analyse the quality of
the promised service.
