Enhanced APS (Automatic Protection Switching) tests
The ITU-T (International Telecommunications Union) has specified that network managers must test the resilience of their networks so that they comply with the recommendations for the maximum time allowed for SONET or SDH networks to switch to backup circuits (APS disruption time). Victoria OC-48/STM-16 now includes tests to program K1 and K2 bytes to simulate or force different APS operations, messages and configurations. You can now test a SONET or SDH network's response to events that force it to switch to protection rings.
